EDUCATOR. ATTORNEY. PUBLIC SERVANT.

ABOUT ROB

Rob Fuentes is a son of the Central Valley. Born in the heart of Fresno, Rob has dedicated his life to public service in the city that he calls home–fighting to expand opportunities for working families just like his.

Rob currently serves as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Fresno, where he prosecutes cases involving white collar fraud and civil rights violations. In addition, Rob serves as the President of the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) Board of Trustees, where he works with teachers, trades, and businesses to ensure that our Fresno City College students have the skills and training necessary to succeed in a modern, 21st century economy. Rob also teaches at San Joaquin College of Law, training the next generation of law practitioners in Fresno and throughout the Valley. He is a proud member of the board of directors of California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA).

Previously, Rob worked in private practice, representing workers in cases involving wage-and-hour violations, discrimination, unlawful termination, and retaliation. He also served as a pro bono volunteer for Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), representing unaccompanied children in their legal proceedings. Rob also served on the Fresno Planning Commission, where he strove to make it easier and much less burdensome to develop housing throughout the city.

The product of a farmworker family, Rob learned from an early age the value of hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance. He was the first in his family to graduate from college, and he holds a BA from Stanford, an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a JD from Yale Law School.

As a city councilmember for District 1, Rob will be dedicated to expanding affordable housing, ensuring safer communities, and promoting economic and community development throughout our neighborhoods, including by increasing good paying jobs, attracting and retaining businesses, and building parks and green spaces. Rob will work with community partners to develop neighborhoods where residents can live, work, play, and thrive--neighborhoods that we are all proud to call home.
