ON THE ISSUES
ROB'S PRIORITIES

Affordability
Our living expenses are skyrocketing, as costs continue to rise for gas, groceries, and other essentials. Rob will be laser-focused on promoting policies and programs that reduce or assist with the costs of housing, utilities, transportation, and childcare. He will call for public hearings and public input regarding the rates of city services, and he will fight to drive down the costs and expand the availability of multi-family and single-family housing throughout our city.
Public Safety
Fresno families deserve to feel safe in their homes. Rob will partner with law enforcement, mental health professionals, and community leaders to build safer, stronger neighborhoods by combining measures that increase accountability while focusing on prevention. He will launch a “Clean Up District 1” initiative, working with law and code enforcement to target crime hotspots and crack down on illegal dumping and nuisance properties.

Homelessness
The government has spent billions of dollars on homelessness, but we’ve made very little progress in addressing the homelessness crisis. Rob advocates for supportive housing with wraparound services (including mental health and substance abuse treatment) for the chronically homeless, and rapid rehousing for the newly homeless. However, he will call for a study of comparable cities to determine what works, and what doesn't work, before we spend more taxpayer money. He’ll also aggressively expand access to affordable housing to prevent new incidence of homelessness.
Jobs & Economic Growth
Rob has dedicated his career to expanding opportunities for Fresno’s working families. A committed coalition builder, Rob will work with our business and labor communities to spur economic development, attracting and retaining businesses, creating good-paying jobs, and expanding opportunities for every person who calls Fresno home. He’ll work to cut red tape that makes it unduly burdensome to build housing or to start a business in our otherwise vibrant neighborhoods.

Community Development
Our communities’ infrastructure is in desperate need of repair. Many neighborhoods in District 1 have not seen their streets or sidewalks fixed or repaved in literally decades. Rob’s priority will be squarely on revitalizing our existing neighborhoods, including by improving our street lighting; repairing our roads, sidewalks, and gutters; and expanding our parks, trees, and green spaces. Rob will work hand in hand with community partners to develop neighborhoods where residents can live, work, play, and thrive—neighborhoods that we are all proud to call home.
